ACCESS STATEMENT FOR VICTORIA HOUSE GUEST ACCOMMODATION
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors to our home based 3 bed guest accommodation. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to contact us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-arrival
The main railway station is situated in Lydney, which is approximately 8 miles away. There is a frequent bus service to Cinderford and the bus stops are 2 minutes walk away.
Alternatively we can arrange a pick up and drop off service to and from any local railway and bus stations (Lydney, Gloucester or Chepstow) or airport (Cardiff or Bristol) by prior arrangement and this is subject to a small charge.
There is a local taxi service that has accessible vehicles if required and we can make the booking for you.

Arrival
On arrival the property, which is set back from the main road up a short drive, there is an access gate which is closed after 10pm in order to restrict access to the wild deer and sheep but it is not locked.
There is ample parking for all cars and also secure garage storage for motor cycles and bikes.
The surface is flat level gravel.
We can assist guests with luggage.
Main Entrance & Reception
The front door has a small 5 inch/12.5cm step over. The front door is unlocked during the day whilst guests are in residence and locked after 10pm. Each guest is given an access key and if there are any access issues we can be contacted by ringing the bell at number 58 next door. There is a bell push on reception should you need assistance day or night.
You enter into the reception room which has seating and a stair case to the upper floor. There is a selection of books, free DVDs and local attraction information booklets available. The ground floor has short pile carpet throughout.
Public Areas-General
Corridors and stairs have a good colour contrast and are well lit. There are emergency “Moon Lights” at the top of the stairs and in the reception in case of emergency as well as smoke and heat alarms.
Dog bowls are available on request.
The breakfast room is on the ground floor next to reception and both are covered with short pile carpet.
There are 4 stairs to a small landing with a 90 degree turn to 10 further stairs up to the first floor bedrooms. The stairs are standard size and have hand rails.
There is no public WC facility.
Breakfast Room
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor. There are no steps.
Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
There are two tables seating 4 each and one table seating two.
Menus are provided in large print.
We play Classic FM quietly but can change channels on request.
Bedrooms
The Blue Room. Although furnished with a double bed, this room is classed as a single room due to one side of the bed being against the wall. It can be let for two people on request. It has a double full length wardrobe, a 3 drawer writing table with chair and a 3 drawer bedside table with lamp. A complimentary drinks table with waste bin is also provided.
The Brown Room. This is classed as the Family room. It has a double bed and a child bed which is 5ft 8” by 2ft 8” wide.
There is a full size double wardrobe, a chest of drawers with complimentary drinks on top and a 2 drawer bed side table.
The Green Room. This is classed as the Double Room. The double brass knobbed bed is flanked by 2 slim-line wardrobes with integrated bedside table and can be adapted to accommodate long evening gowns. There is a 3 drawer chest and a table with complimentary drinks.
Bedroom Facilities
All rooms are en-suite and have a 5” step up through a fully mirrored sliding door and comprise of a toilet, hand basin and shower cubicle.
Each room has a flat screen TV with integrated DVD player and Free Sat. A shaving socket is located next to the mirror.
They all have a short pile carpet, smoke alarms and escape windows.
Grounds and Gardens
We have a small enclosed private area at the rear of the property consisting of a patio area with table and chairs which is also suitable for dogs. There is a local park 100 metres walk from the B&B where dogs and owners can exercise and have access to about 200miles of paths and bike rides within the Royal Forest of Dean.

Free wi-fi is available throughout, ask for details.
Mobile phone reception varies from good to bad depending on your network.
Open all year round.
Smoking is permitted in the rear patio area (bins provided).
Light suppers are available, pre booked by request.
2 mountain bikes (1 his, 1 hers) are available to rent at £5 per day.
Well behaved dogs are welcome with prior notice.
If you require assistance in the event of an evacuation please notify us on arrival.
The B&B does not benefit from leisure/ outdoor or conference facilities
Laundry - A limited laundry facility is available with drying and ironing facilities.
Shop - Not available. There are numerous shops in Cinderford Town which is a 3 minute drive away.

Future Plans
We hope to commence building a 2 bedroom disabled unit which can be used as a self catering let (Summer 2010).
